Pre-shipment inspection: what to check
Inspection before shipping is your last chance to fix problems while the goods are still in China.
Basic checkpoints
- Quantity per item, colour and size.
- Key specifications: dimensions, material, colour, function.
- Unacceptable defects: breakage, scratches, stains, missing parts.
- Packing and labelling requirements.
Full or sample inspection?
A random sample is common for large quantities; a fuller check suits high-value or sensitive goods. The level is agreed in advance and affects cost.
What to do with results
If issues are found, options include rework, replacement, a price adjustment or refusing the affected goods, depending on what was agreed with the supplier.
Limits
Visual inspection finds visible defects and obvious differences. It does not replace lab tests or conformity certificates your country may require.
FAQ
Do you inspect every piece?
