Halal certificates for Chinese food products: how to verify them
China has bodies issuing halal certificates, and many factories exporting to Muslim markets hold them. But not every certificate is accepted in every country, and a certificate alone is not enough if a product's ingredients change.
What to check
- Issuing body: is it recognised by the authority in your country? Some countries publish approved lists.
- Validity: expiry date, factory name and address.
- Scope: does it cover the exact product you are buying?
- Ingredients: gelatin, emulsifiers, flavourings, alcohol in flavours, and fat sources.
Products needing extra care
Gelatin candy, meat-flavoured noodles, chocolate, bakery products and supplements in gelatin capsules.
How we help
We request the halal certificate and detailed ingredient list from the factory, check product and factory names match, and send them to you before ordering so you can confirm acceptance in your country.

FAQ
Is every Chinese halal certificate accepted?
No, acceptance depends on your country's authority recognising the issuing body.
Is the certificate enough without an ingredient list?
It is always better to request the detailed ingredient list too, to confirm it matches.
