Importing candy and sweets from China: a complete guide for traders
China is one of the world's largest candy producers, making almost everything from hard candy and jelly to lollipops, gum and festive sweets. Importing food is different from importing toys: shelf life, documents and shipping need more careful planning.
What can you import?
- Hard candy and lollipops.
- Jelly, marshmallow and soft candy.
- Gum and toy-shaped kids' candy.
- Festive sweets for Ramadan, Eid, weddings and birthdays.
- Chocolate products, the most heat-sensitive.
Where does Chinese candy come from?
Many candy and snack factories are concentrated in southern China, especially the Chaoshan area of Guangdong, with others in other provinces. We contact factories directly and request catalogues, samples and ingredient lists before any order.
Your own brand
Many factories accept private label production with higher minimums. Packaging must carry the mandatory information in your country, such as ingredients, production and expiry dates and country of origin.
What to watch
- Ingredients: gelatin source (halal or not) and the colours and preservatives allowed in your country.
- Shelf life: some countries require a large share of shelf life to remain on arrival.
- Heat: chocolate can melt in summer; a reefer container or cooler months may be needed.
- Samples: taste and check packaging before the bulk order.
Documents that may be required
Common ones include a certificate of origin, a health certificate issued via Chinese customs for some products, lab analysis reports, a halal certificate from a body recognised in your country, and a detailed ingredient list. We obtain what the factory can issue and coordinate with accredited labs for the rest. See documents by country.

FAQ
Can my brand be printed on the candy?
Yes, many factories accept this with higher minimums and longer lead times.
Does candy need a reefer container?
Chocolate and heat-sensitive sweets may need it in summer or for hot destinations; we decide by product and season.
Do you provide halal certificates?
We request them from the factory if it holds one from a body recognised in your country, and check validity before ordering.
